What to Expect at FCCM

What are FCCM church services and music like? What does FCCM have available for children? for me?

Getting to Know Each Other

We know meeting someone for the first time can be intimidating, and going to a new church for the first time can be nerve-racking. We want to help make your first experience at First Christian Church of Malvern a great one! So let us answer some common questions.

What's the culture like at FCCM?

You might be wondering, what's it really like at First Christian Church of Malvern? Simply stated, at FCCM, we're all about Jesus. You won't be met with shame, guilt, or condemnation. And we don't care how you're dressed or what candidate you voted for. Our church is made up of imperfect people with every kind of story imaginable.

Want to know the best part? No matter what you've been through or what questions you might have about God and faith, our church is a place where you'll find the love, grace, and forgiveness Jesus gives to everyone.

Church services at First Christian Church of Malvern are exciting, casual, and relaxed. Come as you are and expect to feel welcomed as our guest. Feel free to bring your coffee or tea in with you (with a lid, please).

How long is an FCCM church service and what's the flow?

In total, an FCCM service is about 50-65 minutes in length. Services begin with the band leading the church in music--song lyrics are projected onto the screens so you can sing along and/or engage with worship however you feel most comfortable. After the music portion of the service is complete, our lead minister will come out to share an encouraging and hope-filled message. Following the message is an invitation to meet with a minister or elder, followed by a communion meditation and taking of communion (weekly at FCCM). Our communion is pre-packaged and available on the way into the worship center. After communion, there is a short offering devotional and a closing song. We do not pass a plate at offering time. Instead, you can choose to place your offering in one of the blue boxes on the worship center or lobby walls or give any time online. Learn more about offering on our giving page.)

What kind of music can I expect?

First Christian Church of Malvern offers four services with two different styles of music.

The 8:30am Sunday service is our Traditional Service and offers traditional hymns and songs with simple arrangements. These songs are played on a piano keyboard and sometimes accompanied by acoustic guitars or flutes.

The 7:00pm Thursday and the 10:00 and 11:30am Sunday services are our Contemporary services. The content is identical in these services; just choose the time that convenient for you. The songs in these services are generally more up-beat and modern. The songs are sung accompanied by a full band that includes keys, acoustic/bass/electric guitars, drums, etc.

Lyrics are projected on the front screen during all services, and we encourage you to sing along and/or engage with worship however you feel most comfortable.

What about my kids?

We believe that kids should love coming to church and learning about the Bible, God, and Jesus each week - and at FCCM, we make this a priority. The other thing we make a priority is your children’s safety. Because of that, we have a detailed check-in process for our children and student program the first time that you visit. You’ll want to leave yourself an extra ten minutes to get signed in the first time. After the first time, check-in will be very quick. Nursery care and children's activities (infant to grade 5) are offered at each service. Student programming (grades 6-12 ) is available at each service EXCEPT 11:30 am Sundays, which we encourage students to attend.

For more information, see our visiting with children page.

What about things for adults to do?

Great question! Christian adults need to seek out other Christians with whom to fellowship and study. We have things for the ladies, for the men, and for both together. We even have special events for young adults (college age to about age 30) and those aged 55 and up. You can explore all the opportunities on our news & event listings page and our adult opportunities page.
